I came to Stacy’s room to grab Ari for a quick breakfast and alone time with her. I wanted to give Stacy some space, time for her to do whatever she wanted to do without having a child attached at the hip.

I knew next to nothing about parenting but I remembered the way some of the guys in my unit would talk about going home and soaking up as much time with their kids as they could get because they missed them, but also because their wives hadn’t really had time to themselves. They didn’t want their women forgetting that they were more than just a mom. I thought I could give Stacy that this morning, let her sleep in and check out Falls Village on her own to do whatever she wanted without having to worry about Ari.

My motives weren’t completely out of the goodness of my heart. I wasn’t ready to face Stacy after the kiss. I wasn’t sure how we would be around each other after I stepped over that line and put my lips against hers and then dismissed her when she challenged my relationship with Jas and Kris again. As hot and heavy as we were with each other, we could be just as cold to one another in the same breath. Like now, with my hand wrapped firmly into the towel and our eyes locked on each other like we were the only ones in this room.

I hadn’t meant to say what I said. I hadn’t meant to tease her with my words or even be affected by the way Stacy stood in nothing but a towel, her body still wet from the shower––little droplets of water fell down her arms. “Damien.” My name off those lips had my heart feeling like a stampede in my chest. The way her gaze zeroed in on my lips like she was remembering what they felt like on her body had my cock eager to get inside of her.
